What I should have learned in College. December 19, 1997 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am at this moment beginning my student teaching in elementary classrooms and find myself faced with management of young learners. This book fills in the many gaps in my college preparation classes as well as giving numerous ideas for classroom activites to bring about student success, especially for those students that do not adapt well to the classroom environment. It is better than any of the textbooks I was required to purchase during my last four years of study. I checked it out from my Cal Poly Library and don't want to give it back! If you are a new teacher to be get your hands on this book.
The Book Every New or Experienced Teacher Need April 21, 2005 John Eng (La Palma, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
A problem with many new teachers is the availabilty of a book with suggestions backed with examples to work with students who need that extra assistance to get them going. This can range from a simple lesson to classroom behavior. Bos and Vaughn's book does this in a very straightforward and "common sense" approach. Often used for teachers studying in the field of special education, this book needs to find its way to regular education as well. I still have my fourth edition and when I work with new teachers and suggest this book, they always tell me they wish they knew about this book while taking teacher education classes in college. Like the ditionary, one should have this by their desk.
Strategies for Teaching Students with Learning and Behavior Problems February 15, 2007 Grace Mandolin (Northern VA) This paperback textbook was required for a college course. I like the way it is formatted, with focus questions and intervention strategies on each topic. I have already used it as a resource for another class. I ordered it used ("like new condition") through one of Amazon's vendors. It was much less expensive than it was in the college bookstore. It was delivered sooner than I expected and was in new condition.
Book Review April 8, 2008 R. Anderson The transaction and shipment went smoothly. The book was in good condition, and the info in it seems to be very helpful.
