Welcome to Santa Barbara City College

Dear New SBCC Faculty Member:

Welcome to Santa Barbara City College and Specifically to the Faculty Teaching and Learning Seminar.

Student learning, greatly facilitated through high quality teaching, is the primary focus for all of us at Santa Barbara City College. The promise of academic achievement is best accomplished when faculty and college support staff are constantly engaged in seeking more effective ways to encourage and inspire students to fulfill their potential. At Santa Barbara City College you will find a learning environment that consistently presents our students with academic challenges and the support needed to succeed.

At SBCC our intent is to ensure that every student reaches deeply within him/herself to achieve the potential he/she has. We also know that the instructor is the key influence in a student’s academic life, and we are committed to providing you with as many tools to support you in your work for students.

This Faculty Teaching and Learning Seminar has been developed under the leadership of the College deans and faculty to provide you with new ideas and techniques all focused on making you the best teacher possible. We know that through this experience you will gain new insights into your work and an even stronger commitment to the teaching/learning process at SBCC.

I appreciate very much the work that has gone into developing The Faculty Teaching and Learning Seminar, and I encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful resource.

Again, welcome. We are pleased to have you as a part of this great college.

Sincerely yours,

John Romo
President
