Athletic Advising

Welcome to Athletic Advising at Santa Barbara City College. We provide an Academic Advising Program for all athletics that specially addresses the
requirements of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (N.C.A.A.) and the Committee On Athletics (C.O.A.). The core of the program is the nine hour course titled Personal Development 40.

In addition, the program provides A Special Program Advisor for Athletes
conducting progress checks, study skills, follow-up and serves as the
liaison between the coaches, faculty and the counseling department.

Counseling Services

Assistance in interpreting English and math assessment levels.
Assistance with appeals, grades, probation, dismissal, and early warning.
Exploring and choosing career goals.
Graduation, certificate, and degree information.
Planning a program and selecting courses.
Personal Development Courses for Career Planning and Student Success
Referral to services and instructional departments on campus.
Transfer Information on UC, CSU, and independent colleges.
Veterans Educational and Academic Assistance and Advising

ESL Support Services

Welcome to the Counseling-Student Development ESL Support
Services. We are committed to the support services for (ESL) English As
a Second Language Students. These services include providing
academic career and personal counseling to students enrolled in ESL
classes as well as orienting them to all campus-based resources. In
addition Classroom presentations are conducted in the ESL classes as
well as the Spanish component of the ESL Orientations. We look forward
to you accessing our services.

Faculty Advising

Welcome to Faculty Advising. Each of the college's instructional
divisions has a faculty advisor. Students are invited to meet with their
faculty advisors on a regular basis. The may arrange to meet with the
faculty advisor who assist students with career information, Associates
and Certificate requirements, course prerequisites and major course
sequences, among other concerns. The Faculty Advising Program at
Santa Barbara City College provides a service to students whereby they
access academic and career information from a faculty member teaching in the students academic area of interest.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Faculty Advisors schedule appointments with students on hours other
than their scheduled office hours. These sessions are usually conducted
in their offices. The Faculty Advising Program provides 8 to 10 advisors
per school year.


ReEntry Adult Program

Welcome to the ReEntry Adult Program at Santa Barbara City College.
We welcome you and the wealth of experience you bring to the college
setting. We are sensitive to the increasing number of adults attending
colleges for the purposes of retraining, transition from home to the
workplace, and continuing education. We also recognize that re-entry
adult students have unique concerns, and we are committed to providing
services to address adult re-entry issues. On going programs include the
Career Advancement Program, Academic counseling and Personal
Development courses to facilitate career planning and decision-making.

Veteran's Services

Welcome to the Veterans Affairs Office. Our objective is to offer
information and assistance to Veterans and Dependents of Veterans
eligible for Veterans Educational Assistance. SBCC academic
counseling, career, transfer, tutorial and other services are part of
SBCC's mission to offer eligible program participants with support to
achieve their educational goals.
