Facilitating Class Discussions
Author: Jack
Ullom
Introduction
The special contribution of class discussions
to learning is that if the student explains, summarizes, or
questions concepts the student is much more apt to remember
and apply the information in the future.
There are three primary challenges in leading discussions:
- Achieving a discussion by a cross section
of students
- Making progress towards course objectives
- Handling the emotional reactions of students
