Accessibility

Assess your learning:

  1. How much do think communicating with your textbook representatives re: accessibility, affects the learning outcomes for students in your courses?

    1. I have no influence on a publisher's final textbook format.

    2. I can at least discuss the types of students who might take my class.

    3. I could ask the representative if the textbook comes with a CDROM and see if it is navigable with a screen reader.

    4. I could ask if the publisher has companion websites with the textbook and if those pages are accessible.

    5. I can ask if the websites have video clips and if so, are they closed-captioned.

    6. If not, are there text transcripts for students to download.

    7. I can ask if the web sites have power point presentations.

    8. If so, I can ask if they downloadable to a student's individual station so they can use their assistive technology to read information from the slides.

  2. What do you consider to be the most valuable or important concept/idea in this lesson? What remains unclear?
