Computer Literacy

Tips And Pointers

When offering your students computer literacy instruction or advice, it is helpful to give them a task to complete or have them submit prospective goals for their research according to the boundaries you set for them. For example, you might have them research some particular item that they would want to purchase to help them succeed in college or locate services that would meet a particular practical need, such as housing or employment.

You should also recommend that they take formal instruction if their needs warrant it. The tutors in the LRC are there for support only. They are too busy to offer real instruction.

Assignment

Go to the LSS web site and find the Online Orientation. Locate the section on copying and pasting text or graphics from the Internet. Open an Internet site that pertains to your discipline. Locate a page with graphics and text and copy both into a Word document.

Submit this along with a brief description of any difficulties you encountered.
