INTRODUCTION
Technology is accessed for instruction in campus
classrooms several ways. Many departments have a few "smart
classrooms" equipped with a computer and projector permanently
set up in specific rooms. If you will be teaching in these rooms,
then you will obviously have access to this equipment. There are
also computer labs throughout the campus in which teachers can
have their classes meet for lab sessions. These lab rooms also
have projector systems. A third option is for teachers to use
portable carts in their classrooms.
A "portable cart" consists of a computer
and projector system on a moveable cart that can be wheeled into
any classroom within the building. If that classroom has internet
access, the cart can be used to access the internet as well. Most
carts also have VCR's, some also have speakers, and the newer
I-Mac computers are equipped with DVD players.
This lesson will be discussing eight different ideas
on how to utilize your departments' portable carts in your courses.
