Scenarios for Implementing Universal Design
- After class a student walks up to you and asks
if you can provide your course notes in an alternate format.
How do you respond?
- Your class has a web-based component with video
clips as part of the learning experience. A student comes
to you after class and says they are hard of hearing and cannot
access the video and would like access through an alternate
format. How do you respond?
- A student turns in a paper that clearly lacks
editing and proofing. You know that the student is receiving
services from Disabled Student Programs and Services Department.
How do you respond?
- A student demonstrates a clear understanding
of the material through class discussion but is unable to
write what they know. How do you respond?
- You select a text book for your class that
comes with a CD-ROM. You have a student in class who is blind
and cannot access the information on the CD. How do you respond?
- You have a student who has low vision and
you have handed out a test that is in 12 point font. How do
you respond?
