Scenarios for Implementing Universal Design

  1. After class a student walks up to you and asks if you can provide your course notes in an alternate format. How do you respond?

  2. Your class has a web-based component with video clips as part of the learning experience. A student comes to you after class and says they are hard of hearing and cannot access the video and would like access through an alternate format. How do you respond?

  3. A student turns in a paper that clearly lacks editing and proofing. You know that the student is receiving services from Disabled Student Programs and Services Department. How do you respond?

  4. A student demonstrates a clear understanding of the material through class discussion but is unable to write what they know. How do you respond?

  5. You select a text book for your class that comes with a CD-ROM. You have a student in class who is blind and cannot access the information on the CD. How do you respond?

  6. You have a student who has low vision and you have handed out a test that is in 12 point font. How do you respond?
