Accommodating Students with Disabilities

  1. You arrive for your first class meeting of the semester. In the front row you have a student who has a cane and a dog lying under the desk. At the back of the room is a student who is using a wheelchair. How do you proceed?

  2. Your online class has begun. You receive an email from a student who says he is deaf and needs captioning for the video portion of your online instruction. How do you proceed?

  3. At the end of the first week of instruction you realize that one of your students cannot read or write. You ask to meet the students in your office. He arrives with another person who he introduces as his sister. The "sister" says you cannot fail the student because he has a disability. How do you proceed?
