Lesson Goal

This lesson introduces you to the nature of a learning disability, and describes steps you can take so your course content is accessible to students with learning disabilities.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this section, you will be able to do the following:

  • Define the essential characteristics of a learning disability

  • Know some of the typical patterns of behavior that may be signs of a learning disability.

  • Know how to refer students to the Learning Disabilities Assessment process.

  • Identify some of the areas in which students may have difficulty

  • Be able to describe some accommodations for learning disabilities.
