Student Portfolio

Feedback

After you have a couple of big projects or activities in mind, consider the types of products that will be generated as natural by-products of the project. In other words, how will the products be used to assess student performance?

Will you use the products to evaluate a student's strengths or weaknesses?

Will you use them to assign a grade on a periodic basis or use it to supplement your existing grading?

Will you use it as a sole indicator of student achievement for a semester or year?

In my web design class, students generate storyboards, hold meetings with clients, prepare design documents, and generate graphics and content for the site. The entire project results in an actual web site, and all of these products comprise artifacts for their portfolio.

In the next lesson, you'll learn how to determine student achievement, progress and strengths/weaknesses using student portfolios.
